I remember the first time I was told this popular Figure of Speech:
"You can't eat your cake and then still have it"
Simply put
"You can't have the "Best of both Worlds" or "Can't have it both ways"
Well, I beg to differ.
It was on an occasion much like this but a very different scenario.
I remember I was still 'NYSC' serving my Father's land in Abuja and met some few friends that night.
We all decided on a nights out since we only had one week till we passed out from the Youth Corps.
I met my older brothers friend Jakes at the club,we spoke about family, life and work. He's been working in Abuja for more than 5 years and felt he was ready to settle down.
Turns out he met a Fellow Corper and fell in Love with her at first sight but needed to find out more before approaching her for Marriage.
I helped him since I was at a better position to have first hand information since she was obviously in my Batch.
You wouldn't guess who he was referring to!
Sandra, the lady who I disliked, for openly dating our Zonal Inspector. Mind you I wasn't jealous cos she was the Topic of Discussion or because she was obviously spending his money.
Nope but cos she couldn’t be discreet about her affairs.
I am not a wicked person to go back to my brother's friend and tell him what I knew so instead I took the high Road and approached her.
I told her that he is serious about his intentions and he could take great care of her but I will only introduce them on one condition.
No need Dilly Dalling!
She had to terminate her relationship with the Z.I which she agreed to do. She explained that she was the one taking care of herself and her sibling so she had to do what she did.
A week later I asked around and was happy to find out she kept her word to me. Afterwards things went great for them both, a year later they were both married.
My friend ended up relocating to Dubai after their honeymoon only because "His Lovely Wife" loves UAE so he got another job there.
You hear of stories like this alot when people whom are not deserving get blessed with more.
Jakes and I still speak till this day and he once thanked me for all I did. If not for me he wouldn't have met such a wonderful woman.
"She is his sunshine in a dark room"
His words! Not mine...
I feel he is just a Love- Sick Puppy 😒😒😒
