CELEBRITIES WHO LOST THE MOST WEIGHT AND HOW THEY DID IT!


From the movies they make to the songs they sing, celebrities are under the watchful eyes of their fans and the media at all times. And while many manage to maintain a svelte physique year after year, others are criticized when they start to gain (or lose) a few too many pounds. Even so, some celebs are proud of achieving their weight loss goals and take to social media to share their success stories.

2018 isn’t over yet, but there are a number of famous folks who have already shown off a brand new physique. Here are the ones who’ve lost the most weight.

1. Kelly Clarkson


Weight lost: 37 pounds

How she did it: The Plant Paradox book

As someone in the public eye who consistently promotes body positivity, some fans were surprised when Kelly Clarkson showed off a 37-pound weight loss in 2018. She noted that her autoimmune disease and thyroid issues were the reason for her fluctuating weight over the years, Country Living says. So Clarkson took some advice from the book The Plant Paradox by Steven R. Gundry and changed up her diet. This led to her weight loss — and she feels better than ever.

2. Kevin Smith


Weight lost: 43 pounds

How he did it: Weight Watchers

This director had a serious health scare in February 2018 when he suffered a massive heart attack, E! News reminds us. And that seemed to be the catalyst for change that Kevin Smith needed. Just four months later, he revealed he lost 43 pounds with the help of Weight Watchers. And in June, he revealed that he’s only 10 pounds away from the goal weight his doctors recommended, which is quite impressive.

3. Khloe Kardashian


Weight lost: 33 pounds

How she did it: Working out five to six days per week

She’s fluctuated in weight over the years, but after having her child, Khloe Kardashian let the world know she’s ready to get her revenge body back to the way it once was. On July 16, she wrote that after the baby, “I just wanted to get back to my regular routine from before I got pregnant, which was working out five to six times a week,” Hollywood Life reports. She then said she lost 33 pounds once she got back into the swing of things with the help of breastfeeding and a healthy diet, too.

4. Melissa McCarthy


Weight lost: 75 pounds

How she did it: AtraFen diet pill

Recently, fans were shocked when they noticed Melissa McCarthy dropped a significant amount of weight. And McCarthy dished to TMZ that she could thank her 75-pound weight loss on AtraFen diet pills, StyleCraze notes. “No, I didn’t need to exercise every day. I’ve always liked to jog every few days, but I didn’t change my routine,” she noted. “The only thing I did was took these pills.”

As for the pills, AtraFen claims they can be used safely and effectively to suppress the appetite and burn fat. They seem to be working for McCarthy so far.

5. Blake Lively


Weight lost: 61 pounds

How she did it: Personal training

Blake Lively has always been thin, but she revealed that she gained quite a bit of weight while pregnant with her daughter in 2016. On Instagram, she said she gained a whopping 61 pounds — and she also explained how she worked to lose it.

“Turns out you can’t lose the 61 lbs you gained during pregnancy by just scrolling through Instagram and wondering why you don’t look like all the bikini models.” She also credited her personal trainer for getting her back into shape and helping her shed the pounds.

6. Missy Elliott


Weight lost: 30 pounds

How she did it: Diet and exercise

She’s known for her absolutely iconic music videos and catchy rhymes — but now, Missy Elliott has also made a name for herself for her new look. Hollywood Life reveals back in 2014, Missy first lost 30 pounds by eating a healthy diet and exercising using Shaun T’s “Insanity” workout videos. Nowadays, she keeps the weight off by avoiding bread and sugary drinks, like soda and juice. She claims this has also helped her skin have a beautiful natural glow.

7. Kim Kardashian


Weight lost: 15 pounds

How she did it: Low-carb diet

Though Kim Kardashian is known for her curves, she’s now turning heads thanks to her tiny frame. Recently, it was revealed that she weighs just 119 pounds — and she was also criticized by fans for “glorifying anorexia.”

As for how she’s shedding the pounds, Daily Mail Online explains Kardashian is a huge fan of the Atkins diet and has utilized it for weight loss in the past. She’s also known for hitting the gym on a consistent basis.

8. Gordon Ramsay


Weight lost: 56 pounds

How he did it: Cut out dairy

You know Gordon Ramsay as the swearing, no-nonsense, Michelin-star winning chef who wants to see those around him succeed in the restaurant business. But it was revealed this year that he was fighting battles of his own regarding his weight. Ramsay claims his fit and healthy wife inspired him to drop over 50 pounds, the Daily Express says.

He found a lot of weight loss success by cutting dairy from his diet. He also liked to eat fresh fruit smoothies, and he drank plenty of water before meals to help him feel fuller.

9. Kylie Jenner


Weight lost: 25 pounds

How she did it: Diet

Kylie Jenner was open and honest about her love of In-N-Out during her pregnancy with Stormi — and she gained quite a bit of weight as a result of her love for fast food. As soon as her baby was born, however, she lost an incredible amount of weight. Some reports claimed she lost a whopping 25 pounds in just two weeks post-pregnancy. Her 1,500-calorie-a-day diet and cutting out all carbs and sugar certainly helped her jump back to her thin physique.

10. Mo’Nique


Weight lost: 80-100 pounds

How she did it: Diet and exercise

Mo’Nique’s been open about her weight loss goals for years — especially following her role in Precious when she was at her heaviest. Nowadays, she’s showing that through hard work and dedication (and absolutely zero gimmicks), she can achieve weight loss totally on her own. People reports she recently shared she’s under 200 pounds for the first time in over 30 years. And she credits her raw diet and working out with her personal trainer for the success.

11. Abby Lee Miller


Weight lost: 100 pounds

How she did it: Gastric bypass

You probably remember when this star from Dance Moms was incarcerated for bankruptcy fraud back in 2016. And now that she’s released, she’s looking particularly thin. According to Entertainment Tonight, Abby Lee Miller lost a whopping 100 pounds after undergoing gastric bypass surgery in April 2017. Miller says she feels great after losing the weight and is requesting skin removal surgery now that she’s a free woman.

12. Mariah Carey


Weight lost: 25 pounds

How she did it: Gastric sleeve

Mariah Carey’s weight has been known to fluctuate over the years, but it seems she went the surgical approach when it comes to her most recent slim-down. Entertainment Tonight reports Carey underwent gastric sleeve surgery back in November 2017, and since then, she’s lost quite a bit of weight. As one source says, “She truly feels her weight loss surgery paid off because she is at her happiest when she is thin.” The source also said Carey struggled with the “dieting roller coaster” and is doing much better now that she’s more focused on her music and move to Vegas.

13. Tyler Baltierra


Weight lost: 30 pounds

How he did it: Diet

Teen Mom fans love Tyler and Catelynn Baltierra — and they’re also familiar with the couple’s struggles to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It seems Tyler Baltierra has taken recent steps to shed a few pounds, however. People reports the 26-year-old shed 30 pounds in just two months by switching up his diet and cooking healthier meals.

As he tweeted, “The cool thing is, I’m actually learning how to cook pretty decent now! Almost been 8 weeks since I made the decision to eat healthier & I’m down about 30lbs & I FEEL GREAT! #Motivated.”

14. Jenna Jameson


Weight lost: 60 pounds

How she did it: Diet and intermittent fasting

Jenna Jameson looks better than she has in years, and she credits her brand new lifestyle post-pregnancy for her new look. People reports Jameson meal preps and typically eats the same thing every day to keep her on track. Then, she starts fasting around 6 p.m. and ends the fast at around 11 a.m. the next morning. To stay satiated in that timeframe, she drinks plenty of water and coffee in the morning. It looks like it’s working, as so far, she’s lost 60 pounds.

15. Oprah


Weight lost: 42 pounds (since 2015)

How she did it: Weight Watchers

Another Weight Watchers advocate, Oprah has vouched for the program since 2015, as she’s successfully lost 42 pounds. And though Oprah may not have lost a ton of weight in 2018 alone, she does have big plans for her physique for the future. Page Six notes she hopes to “firm up” and “feel as fit as possible,” and she may even join a weight-training program.

As Oprah said, “I’m not going to be skinny, not trying for a size. I’m just trying to be as healthy as my body wants to be. My goal is to be 65 and you all say, ‘What happened to Oprah? She got ripped!’”
