DO YOU WANT TO MARRY A FOREIGNER? THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

When you’re preparing to marry someone from a different country, it can feel exciting and promising. But a lot of people make this decision without thinking about what exactly they are getting into.

If you want to marry a foreigner and are preparing to move to his own country, keep these 7 things in mind.

1. Difference in money
Do you know all there is to know about the money rates in the country you’re moving to? This will require some adjustments when you get there and things will go more smoothly if you prepare as much as you can beforehand. How much do things like bus fare, basic food, etc cost in their own money? How much cash should you carry around, etc?

2. Language and cultural difference
Even though they speak English where you’re going, you should still educate yourself on things like slangs, cultural beliefs, etc.

3. Dealing with loneliness
Most people migrate to another country and are suddenly hit with a feeling of loneliness. Your man cannot be there to keep you company every minute of every day. So you should have conversations about the type of things you can do to keep busy.

4. Their laws
If you want to marry a foreigner, you should learn about the laws of the country you’re moving to. You may not get away with the same things as you do there. Do some internet research, talk to your man and learn what you can. The last thing you want to do is get arrested in your first week there.

5. His family
If you want to marry anyone, you should learn about his family, more so if the person is a foreigner. Encourage him to open up about his childhood, his parents, how close he is to his family, etc. They may end up being your support system as you find your footing in a new country.

6. Job opportunities
Do you plan to work when you get there? Look into the kinds of opportunities that are available so you have an idea what to expect.

7. Divorce laws
If you want to marry a foreigner, you should know about the divorce laws. No one plans for divorce but being armed with information is never a bad thing. What happens to your kids if you have to leave the marriage? Will you be forced to return to your country?

Did you have to move to a different country to be with your beloved? What was the one thing you did that made the transition easier? Share in the comments below.
